Why The War on Drugs Is a Huge Failure

The war against drugs has been a terrible disaster for everybody involved. Why? And can we do something differently?

I'm not totally sure but I know the war on drugs has had a terrible effect on society as a whole.

Of course prison doesn't help in fact it exacerbates the problem, they often come out of prison as hardened criminals

Usually the part I fail to understand is why the jail a fellow for possessing weed. How is the time behind bars going to help?

Its all about the money, & if the profit was taken away, there wouldn't be a phony & ineffective ''war''.

After all my surgeries, I only ''pushed the pain button'' when it got to the unbearable point. After the last surgery, I think I only used it twice & the nurse said, ''is that all?" I said the pain wasn't enough to push it more often.

There is a difference between discomfort & something that just hurts, compared to excruciating pain.

Like everything in the U.S., it's about profit. Instead of profiting from the legal sale, they've decided there's more profit to be made in prisons, prosecutors, jails, guards, attorneys, etc.

Nice one Daniel I totally agree. Its more of a half way house here in the UK we aren't locking people up any more for possession especially for personal use. This Tory government is too afraid to bring in Harm reduction but clinics and police forces and the courts are doing there own thing anyway.
