We are a worldwide social network of freethinkers, atheists, agnostics and secular humanists.

Silent Night, Smoky Night. Christians pass the buck on climate change.

'Holy smoke! Carols by renewable candlelight.' So went the headline of The Australian newspaper on the 15th of December. The Australian Religious Response to Climate Change is all into 'We wish you a Steady Climate' and 'Silent Night, Smoky Night' according to Emily Ritchie reporting. This arriviste group through Tejopala Rawls announced that: 'We want them to step down off the fence and gain the moral courage to do something about climate change.'

So there! Decades after this had surfaced these concerned Christians insist 'they' 'do something'. Typical. The congregation here DownUnder would have arrived in their cars. Catching public transport to reduce carbon emissions is left to others. Cars are a menace. Through particle pollution alone 1000/1000000 die annually. DownUnder about 20% of carbon emissions comes from transport. Some is unavoidable. However 1000000 cars are sold annually here. It is hopeless. And now these Christians, without the slightest intention to be responsible to shift the emphasis away from their ineptitude to reduce their very own carbon emissions. Such as switching off the air conditioning. Or contributing the the endless sprawl of surburbia wasting natural habitats year in year out.Nor adjusting the heavy meat eating diet. Having less or no children. Yet this country continues to burn coal for its electricity. Whence these concerned Christians are avoiding their supposed responsibility as in so much else. Their moral courage obviously absent. We should not be surprised.

moral courage is not something you associate with the evangelical Christian church especially now when they are backing this atrocious lying Trump government
