We are a worldwide social network of freethinkers, atheists, agnostics and secular humanists.

The excerpt I am posting here is from my book,  "Balanceology:  The 4 M's of motivation, meaning, measurement, mitigation."

Number of religions - I advance the idea that the pure number of religions certainly is an indication that they are man-made jokes. Over the past 6,000-12,000 years, it has been astonishingly estimated of the existence of 100,000 different religions in various cultures across the globe (more to come). Harrison pointed out, “societies display a remarkable diversity of religious belief.” (2003) The 3 major religious groups are: Eastern Group (Hinduism, Buddhism, and Taoism), Abrahamic Group (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam), and the Secular Group (Naturalism, Humanism, and Agnosticism). A global Axial Age (600 BC - 300 BC) saw the development of the major religions of Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Zoroastrianism, Taoism, Confucianism, and the early Greek philosophical schools. There has been many (and over time there will be many more) holy texts and holy scriptures reporting to have the answers to the Great Mysteries ---> Old Testament, New Testament, Talmud, Torah, Zohar (Book of Radiance), Qur'an, Bhagavad Gita (Song of the Lord), I Ching (Book of Changes), Book of Mormon, Rigveda, Tao Te Ching, Avesta, the Hadith, and on, and on. The holy books of the Big Three (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam), were mainly written by illiterate shepherds. There has been many (and over time there will be many more) holy men, prophets, and seers all reporting to have the answers to the Great Mysteries -----> Abraham, Moses, Jesus, Buddha, Krishna, Quetzalcoatil, Noah, Confucius, Mohammad, Zoroaster, Padmasambhave, Joseph Smith, and on, and on.

"Comment by Al Wm Johnson on Thursday

"I no longer use the term "God."  I do believe we all are on a search for higher meaning. A search to make sense out of our life and this world we live in.  For me that search has to do with the truths that come from Nature, human nature, and our own nature.  And, fortunately, or unfortunately depending on how you look at it we will have to find those truths individuall."

There are truths such as climate change is antrophormphic  evolution, the earth is an orb sphere, the planets in this solar system revolve around the sun.

It's is great that  you are studying world religions and more importantly the philosophy of religion. I think it should be a mandatory class in middle education (high school) world wide.  Perhaps if people knew about the similarities of religion and myth some wouldn't become religious zealots.

I sometimes say I disbelieve in one gowd than you.

If I may for example say I don't believe in Zues - you of course had heard all the arguments and and 'debates'.

There is no ultimate truth.

I guess that the only hope is finding friendship and as a 'former' catholic you would understand what may be call communion - or community.  If I may, That's the most important thing we humans live our lives for.

Individuals ideas of Gowd differ perhaps with each individual

How do you define "God?"

I beg to differ

"Naturalism, Humanism, and Agnosticism" aren't religions.

Who's teaching you this BS?

Oh, after looking at your profile I see it's the Roman Catholic Church (Indoctrination)

And they think they are all wrong except there own religion. We just go one further.
