We are a worldwide social network of freethinkers, atheists, agnostics and secular humanists.

I have just published a short article discussing the reasons for locating Christmas and New Years so close together in the calendar. Please check it out and leave a comment. Thank you. An Atheist Musing On The Holidays

Let me rephrase then: 'Context' for party =)

Comment by Harold Shuckhart on January 5, 2013 at 8:31pm

Michel: Do we really need a reason party?

Adriana: There should be a section for comments at the bottom of the page. If you leave the "Post to Facebook" box checked, your comment will appear on Facebook. If you uncheck that box, your comment will appear at the bottom of the article.

Thanks, Harold

I'm very partial to the notion that a year begins on the winter solstice. For all of us (Northern-hemispherians) it celebrates the lengthening of the days - reason enough to party IMO =)

BTW, how do I get to comment on your article? I don't see a link to "Post a comment". this is harder than picturing the perihelion in my head.

Good article, and I'll go comment on it. But I have a question: how is your eyesight? (private joke, no worries :-))
