We are a worldwide social network of freethinkers, atheists, agnostics and secular humanists.

Believers contribute every action to god, and give thanks to him. Even if it is something bad they say he has wisdom which we cannot understand. When you ask a pregnant lady "is it a boy or a girl?" she'll say "Whatever god gives me I'll be happy". I found an article recently which blames man made air-born chemicals for the growing birthrate of females in Greenland and Russia. These chemicals affect the human and wildlife populations alike in tricking the foetus into changing the sex of the unborn. This is proof beyond a shadow of a doubt that humans are causing this phenomena and not god. In some cultures having a female baby is considered a catastrophe, but that is another story. So no matter how much you pray for a baby boy, chances are it's a girl if you live in the doomed area.

Regarding the article on changing the sex of the unborn, that has not been proven and it goes against anything we know as scientists; the cause of the changed ration has to be something else, like favoring sperm containing the X chromosome and not the Y. I do not believe that the sex can change once the egg id fertilized. If it is XY, it'll be a boy, you cannot change that embryo into a female embryo or at least not a normal female embryo. It may be an androgen insensitive embryo but not a true female chromosomally. If this is true, these baby girls will be karyotypically male and will not be fertile, even though they will look like normal females.

It's easy and a sign of a lazy mind to attribute everything to god. It's a cop-out. Figuring out how and why things actually happen is hard work. Another feature of the human mind that favors attributing stuff that happens to god, is that we abhor the thought of chance or luck, even though it is a very real factor. We cannot control our lives completely and we do not like that thought. We prefer to think that there is a skydaddy controlling things for us. We do not like the thought that nobody is in the driver's seat. But that is the truth; the universe has no purpose.

Believers contributing every action to god must be slightly insane. The horrors allowed are inconsistent with anyone's personal morality.
