Before I start, I'd like to introduce this all new (yet not original) post format.
In light of a series of interesting comments on the last post (Why Tolerate Intolerance?), I've decided to dedicate the occasional (slightly more humorous and ranty) 'rambling' to methodically picking apart sentiments expressed in the comment section of this blog which don't sit with me too well. I think it's only fair that if people take the time to write out a structured, sincere, and passive-aggressive novel under one of my ramblings, I take the time to respond too.
Which will sometimes require an entire post.
So, without further delay, I'm going to begin my response to a particular comment by a Mr Philip under last week's post, 'Why Tolerate Intolerance?'...
Somewhat randomly, he starts off:
"Perhaps your label of “extremism” has little discernable meaning without a reasoned and valid moral baseline. At least Christianity and Judaism share a moral baseline which is consistent..." (Read more of this post)

Comment by Carnun on February 3, 2013 at 11:52am It makes me laugh too Michel.
...
A career in physics - I'm glad you asked Adriana... I didn't think I'd be mentioning this here, but I've just received a direct offer from the exact college I want to go to. I'm chuffed.
All is going to plan :P

Comment by Adriana on February 3, 2013 at 10:15am Your tutor is 100% correct, Carnun! Lots of words, zero substance. And don't sell yourself short just because you're 16! Your write better than that guy, and make much more coherent arguments. What career are you thinking of following?

Comment by Michel on February 3, 2013 at 9:43am I hope he knows that he's arguing with a 16-year-old boy in London.
LOLZ!!!
Comment by Carnun on February 3, 2013 at 4:34am Adriana: That's exactly how I felt when I first read it. It took a few tries... I showed the message to my tutor at school and he thought that the grasp of the English language was (unnecessarily) high, but the ability to form a compelling argument practically non-existent - partly why I felt the need to respond.
And no, I don't know this man; he is a complete stranger. From what cunning investigative work I've been able to do he's probably 35+, lives around "Alabama and Mississippi", and is a self-proclaimed "minor Catholic Christian theologian". I hope he knows that he's arguing with a 16-year-old boy in London.
Oh, and he went to school at an "orthodox Notre Dame Graduate School of Christendom College", which is supposedly where he learnt how to wrap harmful bullshit up with pomposity and a smile...
Marianne: Oh, don't worry. The message is incomprehensible when you read it in full anyway... But I agree. I'll need to fine-tune this format for later use (or be rid of it as a whole), this was just an experiment. :)
Thanks for the feedback.
Comment by Marianne on February 2, 2013 at 10:52pm This format is challenging at the least...
Comment by Marianne on February 2, 2013 at 9:53pm I think this new format of yours doesn't allow too much for a full comprehension of what this crazy believer is actually saying, intoduction, main, conclusion; if there was any. I appreciated your comments though

Comment by Adriana on February 2, 2013 at 6:49pm And wow, the commenter of yours likes to use a lot of words but most of his sentences are pretty incomprehensible. I think he's trying to make an effort to sound sophisticated. I personally have no patience for long-winded arguments where the point could have been made much more concisely. Just out of curiosity, do you know the gentleman or did he find your blog post just by chance?

Comment by Adriana on February 2, 2013 at 6:45pm Haha! I LOVE Michel's point! Or where there cars in the Bible?
