We are a worldwide social network of freethinkers, atheists, agnostics and secular humanists.

Religion's spirit-body split has produced many dualistic divisions like Hell and Heaven. Hell (fictional dystopia) is ostensibly the realm of the damned. Heaven (fictional utopia) is supposedly the realm of the saved. Many religions have their laudatory chosen few destined to go to Heaven (the saved) and their derogatory many discarded to Hell (the damned). In Greek mythology Hades is the Underworld; land of the dead. Gulley and Mulholland said, "much of the pain and suffering in our world is a direct consequence of a persistent belief in dual destiny - the idea that some are destined for heaven and the rest for hell." (2004) I argue that Hell is a learned fear concerning perdition and a deontological punishment of eternal damnation. Deontological punishment of the religious kind is revenge against anyone daring to disagree with certain dogma(s). I acutely agree with Christopher Hitchens that, “nothing proves the man-made character of religion as obviously as the sick mind that designed hell, unless it is the society limited mind that has failed to describe heaven - except as a place of either worldly comfort, eternal tedium, or, as Tertullian thought, continued relish in the torture of others." (2007) I maintain that humans are such a mean species that we do not deserve this fictional fantastical Heaven. And, as a mean species such as ours, what does it say about a God who said “let us make man in our own image, and after our likeness?” (Gen. 1:26) I ask, “Is it a mean and revengeful God that is responsible for creating a species that is capable of such mean and revengeful behaviors?”

The notion that evil does will finally get their just deserts is very comforting to most people.

In some respects, I think perdition is a human desire for those who get away with harming others because of wealth or power to eventually get what they deserve. The same for those who have nothing and that live in pain and poverty who hope for health and eternal life.

It's always been a fantasy based on hope and fear. Apparently a very attractive fantasy for way too many.

I have no image of god, it is an obscene concept.  Human rights, however, they mean something... and so many humans are suffering under the Cruel exploitation of people who try to impose this on others.  If you believe in god, then you will invite me to help go see him, since he does not exist in actuality, but since you have been rendered Insane, you will have no problem with me helping you to go live with your god of death!  Joey.... Hey, I am here for you.

I also don't understand believe in a gowd figure, or a supernatual being.

I see people worship figures juxaposed as religious figugures.

It's disgusting.

Is it okay to say "Jesus fucking Christ?'

What Image of god, I wont capitalize a vulgar word, but since god has exactly no referent in actuality, why would one even mention it.  The best way to get stupid people to believe in a fantasy is to create the antithesis of god, i.e, Satan or the Anti-Christ...what a fucking joke.  Can you believe, or think...that people in the 21st century could ever countenance or entertain such Bull Shit!  God is not just Bull Shit, it is a crime against humanity and morality.  A Lady friend of mine once told me, and I chuckle when I remember her expressions, she said "god is coming back and is she ever pissed!"  Actually god is an artificial Ape....Let's kill this artificial Ape, erase him, or it, from our minds so we can get about the business of our lives.  Joey

Well the Religious sycophants want you to believe you were born evil, and the only way you can expiate yourself is to send them your "Fucking Money...Now".  The oldest most sordid game on earth.  They are the lowest scum on earth, they are not human, not sane, not sapient, not sentient.
