In this post, I provide various links on the challenges of African philosophy and attempts by scholars to answer the question whether an African philosophy exists.

A good read Onyango.
It clarified the so called period of enlightenment. Also finally found a work by Mo Tzu
I think it's a discussion worth having
Great post my friend, and I like the conversation on your blog.
I don't know how universities divide curriculum.
A school about Oriental and African Studies should be about African and Orental phylosophy - not Western phylosophy as apparently was argued by some of The students at London University’s School of Oriental and African ...
Students who want to learn about Oriental and African phylosophy shouldn't be subjected to Western phylosophy proselytizing.
Western Phylosophy should be taught in a different school/class -
Compairing Western/Classical Greek and Orental/African studies might be best taught in graduate school.
Most religious classes will be on a specific religion. It is indoctrination but done in a classroom setting.
Their problem is not with western philosophy per se, but that as a school of Oriental and African Studies, maybe the content should reflect that. They have not said western thinkers shouldn't be considered, far from it.
I signed up for a class on religion. The synopsys didn't explain it well. My first day in class I asked what the curriculim as about asking if Eastern religions would be taught. The instructor said "No" the class was about the distinction of different forms of Christianity - mainly Catholosism, and Christianity.
After hearing that I said thanks and dropped the class.
Not understanding the complexities of your post. I'll dip my toe in the water and say that maybe undergrads shouldn't be allowed in the school of Orental and African Studies until they receive the education they want and need to comprehend Western Phylosophy, or at least be willing to explore other schools of thought.
