I haven't posted or commented for some time as I've found myself becoming more "anti-theist" than "athiest". I didn't want to pass on my negativity to others in the group.
In front of the TV watching the memorials to the World Trade Center thinking about 1973 through 1975 when I worked in North Tower. Also thinking how much the logic of my bumper sticker applies when I reminisce the days I worked in the tower and would like to share the content.

Comment by Michel on September 11, 2011 at 9:52pm Religions should be confined to museums. But it won't happen in our lifetime. I'm not sure when if ever we'll get rid of the cultish types.
Comment by Ed Spencer on September 11, 2011 at 1:22pm Trust that I do try, it's not easy as we here in the "B Belt" are bombarded with their rhetoric. Sometime today I will try to post a short essay I wrote at the age of 27 (many moons ago). It might be pertinent for an ominous day like 9/11.

Comment by Adriana on September 11, 2011 at 1:14pm Ed, I understand how you feel but religion, farther from winning, is losing big time; there are less religious people everywhere. Religion is on the wane, as the outdated belief that it is. We have to continue insisting on secularism and educating people about why it's our best option. Do not despair.
Comment by Ed Spencer on September 11, 2011 at 1:11pm Thanks for commenting Adriana - the bumper sticker seems to say it so well. The hate, pain and trepidation driven by the never ending need for religion to "win" at any cost. I just can't control my anti-theist urges as they seem so justifiable. I am way past atheism so I guess religion won.

Comment by Adriana on September 11, 2011 at 12:58pm I can't watch any 9/11 images anymore. I've been avoiding the TV for quite a few days now. What happened was tragic in every sense, also the 10 years that followed and all the wars we waged using 9/11 as an excuse.
