I like some Sushi but not the cold sticky rice.

Your first attempt at making sushi looks wonderfuly artistic well done Daniel.

Good luck Daniel with the  physical therapy

Comment by Mrs.B on Monday

My first hip 16 months ago has done well, & I have the same surgeon for this one, so I expect the same results. I'll be pleased to actually walk upright again!

We don't have many of the ingredients here for different things & we have no Asian stores anywhere nearby, so I can't try things I'd like to in many cases.

I have used Gala apples for many things....good apple! I also like Ambrosia, & Fuji.

Hope your telephone appointment has some answers for you.

Good luck with the Hip replacement Mrs. B.  It will be very nice to have a well functioning, reasonably comfortable joint!

I dont know what will happen witth my issue.  At times it's really bad.  Ofher times ok.   This likely is worsened by my cancer med,  it I will continue anyay, knowing that is the price i pay.  I have a "telephone appointment" tuesday with physical therapy, not sure what they can do by phone but it is a start

Today I also made some apple sauce from gala apples.  That cooks in slow cooker.  And made some sourdough bread.

But the new thing was the sushi.  This was the recipe.  He also shows how on youtube.  My new favorite!  It helps to have an Asian grocery in town, but they actually had almost all of the supplies at Safeway.

Looks really good, Daniel. Never tasted sushi myself so no idea what its like.

I can't stand in the kitchen either...next hip replacement Feb. 25th.

Today I made sushi for the first time.  The recipe is from the intenet.  it took me all afternoon.  I have some pain issues that prevent me from standng a long time in the kitchen, so much of the preparation was while sitting. My friend made these with me last weekend, this is my first time by myself.  For the dragon rolls, roasted eggplant, with a sort of teriyaki sauce,  is used for dragon scales,  "Real" sushi uses eel.  These are more properly "California Rolls" with avocado slices, and are inside out, with nori seaweed on the inside, and rice on the outside.  The orange "fur" on the caterpillar rolls, is shredded carrot marinated in brine and rice vinegar.  The recipe called for roe, but that costs a fortune,

I learned a few things.  Hopefully next time will go more smoothly,  Still, I liked how they turned out,

Those frozen things are definitely the low end.

I agree it can be a lot of work, but I like them.  I make a sourdough crust that I start fermenting the night before.  One advantage is it splits the work so I dont have to do it all at once.

I'm afraid I've reached that point in my life when I'm to lazy to cook my own. But I have my pizza delivered from a real Italian restaurant. Many of the pizza places in London copy the American style. Yuk

Comment by Mrs.B on Friday

I may just have to try it that way. I love pizza!!!

We also make our pizzas.  We make them with the cast iton skillet method.

like this

By cooking on stovetop before putting into oven, the crust comes out more crispy.
