A Woman's right to choose

Women's rights arguments in favour of abortion

  1. Woman have a right to decide what to do with their bodies
  2. You can’t have gender equality without the right to have an abortion
  3. Banning abortion puts woman at risk by forcing them to use illegal abortionists
  4. The right to an abortion should be part of a group of pregnancy rights that allows woman to have a free informed choice to end a pregnancy

Yet another piece I wrote a LONG time ago, but considering the current attacks on a woman's right to control her own body, I think the relevance of the following still maintains.  Let me know what…Continue

UNITED KINGDOM

Availability: Under certain conditions

Gestational limit: 24 weeks

Conditions: Abortion is allowed in England, Wales and Scotland to save a woman's life, for health, economic or social reasons. Two registered medical practitioners must certify that the required medical grounds have been met.

The procedure must be carried out, except in emergency, in a National Health Service hospital or in a nursing home, private hospital or other approved place. The consent of the spouse is not a prerequisite of the medical termination.

In Northern Ireland, the woman's health must be at risk. The difference between the British mainland and Northern Ireland occurred in 1967 when the Westminster parliament let the then Ulster authority decide not to adopt the new laws. Hundreds of women each year cross the Irish Sea to get abortions in England.

I for one, don't think it matters, & if it does to others, they need to re-think. Important is important.

We all need to screech about things being done to our private bodies, unless the reasons why are explained medically. Then we get to choose about what gets done.....OR NOT!

Nobody, but NOBODY else gets a say in the matter!

I had 3 kids. I knew there was never going to be a 4th, & that choice was MINE alone to make.

Thanks Mrs.B. i was worried that people would object to a man opening a group on such a subject

Thank you Stephen, pleased to join, & it doesn't matter who starts a group. Some things are important enough that we all should pay attention.

I started this group because i had a family member who had to go to an illegal abortionist and she never totally recovered.

In those days(40s and 50s) they did unspeakable things to woman without their consent, this family member died in her early 60s never able to have children, I know she regretted her decision for the rest of her life.

I hope its not strange for a man to open a group on this subject but ive always felt deeply about it.
