A Woman's right to choose

Women's rights arguments in favour of abortion

  1. Woman have a right to decide what to do with their bodies
  2. You can’t have gender equality without the right to have an abortion
  3. Banning abortion puts woman at risk by forcing them to use illegal abortionists
  4. The right to an abortion should be part of a group of pregnancy rights that allows woman to have a free informed choice to end a pregnancy

Yet another piece I wrote a LONG time ago, but considering the current attacks on a woman's right to control her own body, I think the relevance of the following still maintains.  Let me know what…Continue

Don't you mean legal Chris?

No!, Stephen, I meant

"When did abortion become illegal?"

The National Abortion Federation provides the following among other information.

Making Abortion Illegal

In the mid-to-late 1800s states began passing laws that made abortion illegal. The motivations for anti-abortion laws varied from state to state. One of the reasons included fears that the population would be dominated by the children of newly arriving immigrants, whose birth rates were higher than those of “native” Anglo-Saxon women.

I worked with an old Cowboy who asked about Infanticide. For some reason he talked about it with me quite a bit.

Stephen: yep, I like to know how far we've come.

Amazing how equality is more equal for some, huh?

Suzanna Its good that you keep up on all these issues.

You could be right there, we've only made gay marriage legal in 2016 and Civil partnerships between straight couples came in around the same time, which it still hasn't in England. Disabled people don't have equal rights yet though so it's swings and roundabouts.

Suzanna, I've always had the impression that because the Isle of Man isn't under the direct control of the British Parliament the leaders of the Island have been far more conservative than the rest of the UK, on all things, not just the Abortion debate.
