Many of the Eucalyptus trees around here have fallen, or been felled because of danger to roadways.

Why are Eucalyptus trees also called Gum Trees?

Circular breathing?

How is that done?

Gills may help.

Thinking about the Erhu I had - it was a two string instrument. The bow was woven between the two strings. It would be interesting to hear the didge from far in a desert region.  The link you posted Davy was neat.

Chris
I think the sound of the didge does carry when it is played in bush but its sound may be drowned out by noise of the city so does not carry far.
But that is my estimation of its sounds ability to carry as I have never experienced its sound in the city or town.

Davy,

Thanks for posting the link to the didgeridoo.  I asked my neighbor if I could get the instrument to learn how to play.

It will bother my neighbors, but fuck them.  There are amplified bands playing all over well into the night that bother me.

I enjoy the didge music.  I'll play it in front of the State Fairground board members meeting room in attempt to say I don't like the music you have.

I imagine the sound of a didge caries far.

Chen Yue with Touching Dizi

Hee hee Chris that video that you posted on Tuesday the very first track is Chen Yue playing Fairy footsteps in Green Land.  I have a faint suspicion that is all there is on that video

Hello Chris
As you can see on the video it is a 2 string bowed instrument. When you have a good Erhuist you can almost imagine it to be close to the violin which as you would be aware has four strings.
Oh! Also believe it or not in my people's society it is only the males that play the Didge. Although you may not think of it as a musical instrument when you have someone that really knows how to play the didge it is
Have a listen to this!
