Thanks, Science Photography! Special filters and satellites caught some pretty stunning images yesterday of Venus transiting the sun, a phenomenon where Venus passes between the Earth and the Sun, that won't happen again for 100 years.posted about a half hour ago

In this handout composite image provided by NASA, the SDO satellite captures the path sequence of the transit of Venus across the face of the sun on June 5-6, 2012 as seen from space. The last transit was in 2004 and the next pair of events will not happen again until the year 2117 and 2125.

That black dot is a world!

Our own planet looks exactly the same from Mars.

All we will ever do in our life will happen whithin such a black dot.

How's that for perspective...
