I agree with Friedrick Nietzsche when he writes this

Men were considered free only so that they maybe considered guilty – could be judged and punished; consequently every act had to be considered as willed and the origin of every act had to be considered as lying within the consciousness.
about free will. That the idea behind free will is to make men guilty and justify punishment.
Further this argument of free will was used by the priests and prophets of old who couldn't explain why the chosen people of god were suffering. To them men had sinned against god and were therefore guilty and deserving of punishment. We have carried this on for too long and it is time to free the world of this spurious idea.
It is this thinking that I try to advance in my recent blog post where I try to dissuade everyone of the existence of free will.
I agree; I don't believe in the existence of free will. I guess that makes me a determinist.
