I tried to read that stupid thing when I tried to read the babble, but never got beyond the first chapter, if that. I was around 9 or 10, & bored sh*tless.*.

  1. These "other Gentiles" were the Pilgrims arriving at Plymouth Rock in 1620. 13:13

  2. The Nephites were "white and exceedingly fair." 13:15

  3. "The Gentiles ... did humble themselves before the Lord; and the power of the Lord was with them." 13:16

  4. The "mother Gentiles" are the English and the "battle" is the Revolutionary War. 13:17

  5. God helped the American colonists win the Revolutionary War. 13:18

You made me read the Book of Mormon again - what a pack of boring broken English.

Mormon 2:24
24 And my words did arouse them somewhat to vigor, insomuch that
they did not flee from before the Lamanites, but did stand with
boldness against them.

Its hard to imagine with all the BS the religions have spouted over the years. But give it up to the Mormons because they have out done them all in the  BS league tables.

Muslim women 'given hope' by High Court ruling that sharia marriage...

I understand that there are religious marriages and 'legal government contracts where a couple commit by laws of the state they are required to abide by and more importantly must go before a court during divorce proceedings.'

I understand that England allows separate religious Muslim courts for family law matters.  https://fullfact.org/law/uks-sharia-courts/

Even here in the States it should be important to know (as is written in the above link):

Getting married for the purposes of your religion doesn't necessarily mean you are married in the eyes of the state.

In the States, if a couple/family are married in a religious ceremony without state binding authority (as long as state law aren't broken) perhaps the church of their choosing should deal with the 'family matters ' with divorce.  That however may not work when children and child custody is involved.

A person I had the 'opportunity' to work with got divorced. He was a fundamentalist Catholic and upset that the mother of his child (former wife) was raising the kid with Protestant teachings and taking the kid to some sort of xtian (Protestant church for) Sunday school religious indoctrination.    Many of the people I worked with thought the guy was intolerable.  His former wife was likely as intolerable.

If religious people think gowd is in heaven why do they look down and close their eyes when someone evolves god in a prayer?

There must be a cultural reason for that.  It seems to me that during a prayer the recipients should look upwards with their eyes open.

Does anyone know the culture of that behavior?

--

[(Perhaps the cultural aspect of it is if the one reciting the prayer doesn't think the listener is congruent  the subject is better to have their head chopped off without seeing the blade.)  There must be a better explanation than that.]
