Foxes and other wildlife shouldn't be kept as 'pets.'

Even though wildlife may be raised from babies they should be 'rescued' and returned to their natural habitat.  The Napa Wildlife Rescue Center and other wildlife orginazations are good at this.  The Napa Wildlife Rescue Center has a blind fox that nurses baby foxes for return tot the wild along with a team of people who help teach the  kits how to hunt and avoid human contact.

A goofy neighbor called the sheriff because a fox was in the back yard - as though that should be frightening. The sheriff deputy shot the fox basically for no reason.  The fox in the goofy neighbors backyard didn't have rabies. It was just being a fox.

I spoke with an animal control officer in town who said he came across a rabid fox. He said he watched the fox playing - jumping around on rocks then attacked him. He said he ran to his truck and slammed the door while the fox bit the rocker panel of the truck.  His co-worker shot the fox.  They had it tested and indeed it did have rabies.

No, & nobody should have to think this way.

Not so funny

I drove up the road  (100 yards) earlier and saw a tiny deer with it's mother.

My cousin  kept the back door open to her house and said she found a fox laying on her couch.

She used to feed raccoons so had a lot of them around her house. I told her not to do that. She was partial to a raccoon that was blind in one eye.

It's a terrible to feed wild animals.

When I was a kid camping in Yosemite National Park bears were everywhere digging through trash cans.

Fortunately, the national park service and people in general know better than to encourage wildlife (by feeding them) to be around humans.
