Bus Driver Who Told Child That God Disapproved of His Two Moms Placed on Administrative Leave

Last week, after a Polk County, Florida student missed his bus and ended taking a different one back home, he lamented to the driver that he hoped his two moms wouldn’t be mad at him.

The driver, Violeta Jacobo, responded by saying “God doesn’t like that” and that the the boy wouldn’t get into Heaven because of his parents’ homosexuality. Then she gave him a business card for the Jehovah’s Witnesses.

It didn’t just end there. Since that day, the boy has been telling his mothers they shouldn’t be together. And all the while, the bus driver kept her job. She received a warning, more or less, but she was still behind the wheel.

The Polk County School District has placed a bus driver on paid administrative leave pending an internal investigation into accusations that she told a second-grade boy he and his moms are going to hell because of his parents’ same-sex relationship.

That’s precisely what they should’ve done from the beginning. Investigate the issue and relieve the driver of her duties until they can confirm or deny what happened.

If it turns out she really did unleash her anti-gay rhetoric on a child, then there’s no doubt she doesn’t deserve to stay in her job. A slap on the wrist — in the form of a suspension or special training — wouldn’t be enough. She needs to be dismissed.

In this March 10, 2017, photo, White House press secretary Sean Spicer talks to the media during the daily press briefing at the White House in Washington. Spicer tweeted on Friday: “Great news for American workers: economy added 235,000 new jobs, unemployment rate drops to 4.7% in first report for @POTUS Trump.” The fact is that Spicer accurately cited the official unemployment rate, a statistic his boss, President Donald Trump, repeatedly denounced as bogus when it reflected favorably on President Barack Obama. E.P.A. Head Stacks Agency With Climate Change Skeptics

WASHINGTON — Days after the Senate confirmed him as administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, Scott Pruitt appeared at the Conservative Political Action Conference and was asked about addressing a group that probably wanted to eliminate his agency.

“I think it’s justified,” he responded, to cheers. “I think people across the country look at the E.P.A. the way they look at the I.R.S.”

In the days since, Mr. Pruitt, a former Oklahoma attorney general who built a career out of suing the agency he now leads, has moved to stock the top offices of the agency with like-minded conservatives — many of them skeptics of climate change and all of them intent on rolling back environmental regulations that they see as overly intrusive and harmful to business.

Trump and His Obscene War Machine
The U.S. spends billions on un-winnable wars, sacrificing our safety.

A month into his presidency, Donald Trump announced that he would increase US military spending by $54 billion. To do this, Trump said that he would cut the exact amount from the non-military, namely social, programs. The announcement came at the National Governor’s Association, which is made up of state leaders who have to bear the brunt of the federal cuts.

Money for homelessness and poverty, starvation and drug addiction will dry up, leaving state authorities with the paralytic duty of watching more and more of their residents wake up to the American nightmare. This is the old ‘guns vs. butter’ scenario taught to young students in elementary economics classes. If economics is a matter of choices ove...

...

The ‘guns vs. butter’ problem is not idle. The National Priorities Project looked at the $54 billion budgetary increase to the military and concluded that this increase itself is more than the discretionary budgets of the following US federal government agencies:

Department of Homeland Security ($48 billion).

Housing and Urban Development ($38 billion).

Department of Energy ($30 billion).

Department of Justice ($29 billion).

Department of State ($29 billion).

Environmental Protection Agency ($8 billion).

FactCheck.Org: Trump's Address to Congress

Summary

In his first address to a joint session of Congress, President Donald Trump stuck closely to his prepared remarks, but ran afoul of the facts in some cases.

  • Trump said the U.S. has spent $6 trillion in the Middle East and “with this $6 trillion we could have rebuilt our country.” The amount spent so far is $1.7 trillion, according to the Defense Department.
  • He cherry-picked the findings of a recent report, saying it found immigration costs U.S. taxpayers “billions of dollars a year.” The report said immigration “has an overall positive impact on long-run economic growth.”
  • Trump said “94 million Americans are out of the labor force,” a figure that includes the retired, college students and stay-at-home parents. The vast majority — 88.5 million — said they didn’t want a job.
  • Trump said he would “promote clean air and clean water,” a vague claim that came hours after he had signed an executive order to roll back a 2015 “Clean Water Rule.”
  • And the president repeated claims we’ve fact-checked before on border security, welfare, job creation since he was elected, health insurance and crime. For instance, he said the U.S. left “our own borders wide open, for anyone to cross.” But the border patrol budget and number of agents have both doubled since 2001...
