How do mothers (usually) bring up boys to respect women as equals? Or not do so?

Who can get through a day of the 2016 presidential campaign and not think of this? Here's part of how my mom did it in the late 1930s and the 1940s. I didn't know what she had in mind when she raised us as if there was no such thing as boys' work or…Continue

Especially in an area and town like yours, snow clearance should be a vital service and not cut back on.

We are also the seniors on the street now, which is why I think the neighbours have pitched in.

Seems odd with our current mayor's wife in a wheelchair.

It doesn't seem to matter who we vote in as mayor, it never changes for the better.

When we first moved here nearly 30 years ago, we were impressed at how good the snow clearing was.....note the word....*was*!

Sounds like a no win situation, I think at times like this it shows the worth of good neighbours and community spirit, and perhaps the lack of worth of the city council.

I told my husband we should give our tax money to the neighbours who are doing the work!

We need the snow to help with the wildfire season & after last year's mass evacuations, we're trying to convince ourselves not to complain too much.

I just wish the city would get back to clearing as they used to rather than saying they are clearing the highways & patting themselves on the back with how much they are saving in the snow budget.

Meanwhile the hospital is getting many broken bones to set because of people falling.

Goodness me, what a palaver. It's nice that your neighbours are helping and that you have a stash of food to get you through. Hope you both keep as well as possible, and no more snow comes.

We've been pretty much snowed in Suzanna.

Our neighbours have been great about clearing our driveway etc., as well as other neighbours with ATV's who have blades attached have cleared the roadway & sidewalks out front, since the city has seen fit not to do it!

Getting to town has been horrific, so am glad I stock plenty of non perishables & frozen foods to get through.

My husband clears the back yard to reach the shed, & back stairs, but he has a very bad heart & shouldn't really be doing any of it.

Now that's what you call snow, I imagine it's very inconvenient that amount.

Comment by Mrs.B on February 24, 2018 at 10:24pm

Likely because of your humidity,& temps that aren't low enough to dry it out.
