Welcome to Animal | Vegetable | Mineral

I never cease to be awed by the splendor of the natural world, by the forces that shape the earth, and by the diversity and ingenuity of the life that populates it.

Animal | Vegetable | Mineral is a group where those who share this fascination can discuss the Earth and animal sciences of geology, volcanology, seismology, ecology, ethology, primatology, entymology—basically all the –ologies of the natural world.

For general science, chemistry, genetics, or evolution, please post in the Science! group. For posts on animal rights and welfare, please post in Animal Care. For cosmology, please post in The Daily Cosmos. For green living, sustainability, and environmental activism, please post in the Green Atheists group.

Want to go into the sasquach fraud that has become enough of a 'thing' as the hot air baloon that crashed in "Area "51" B/S.

Don't know how much Jane Goodall knew?

How many species of simiens and primates are are there?

Comment by Chris on March 23, 2019 at 9:58am

What I mean by that is the myth of the great ape.

Perhaps i should be put into perspective - and say there is no Yeti, or Sasquatch around today - except perhaps for me .

Wouldn't want to ge a great ape.

A bonobo would be a kinder place.

Doone,

Cromanions were larger than homosapiens.

That doesn't make it a Yetti, or  Sasquatch.

Baboons and other great apes are large.

I think it's mythology.

Not sure I am following you here Chris.  A large Ape skeleton is a myth or fake?

Comment by Chris on March 23, 2019 at 9:06am

What do they call that in Asia?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_mythology

I think they called it Yetti.

I can move within  Denovians and  what many seem to be proud of when they get DNA testing of being called 2%  cro-mangion.

I agrue that what you are saying doone is myth.

Ever heard how much people in that part of that part of the world and elsewhere believe in myths.

The reference you our are presenting  from the archeiolgist I'd call a Phud.

Good scientists look at evidence and draw conclusions from them - they don't have preconcieved notions such as the one you presented has.

Where is the evidence sor sasquatch?

It's a living being in some of their minds as it is perpetuated in the Northwestern  Olympiic Penunsneula of  NW Wa State U.S.A.

Gigantopithecus (from the Ancient Greek γίγας gigas"giant", and πίθηκος pithekos "ape") is an extinct genus of ape that existed from perhaps nine million years to as recently as one hundred thousand years ago, at the same period as Homo erectus would have been dispersed,[2] in what is now IndiaVietnamChina and Indonesia placing Gigantopithecus in the same time frame and geographical location as several hominin species.[3][4] The primate fossil record suggests that the species Gigantopithecus blackiwere the largest known primates that ever lived, standing up to 3 m (9.8 ft) and weighing as much as 540–600 kg (1,190–1,320 lb),[2][5][6][7] although some argue that it is more likely that they were much smaller, at roughly 1.8–2 m (5.9–6.6 ft) in height and 180–300 kg (400–660 lb) in weight.

Bigfoot?  The bigfoot or giant of fairy tales?  100,000 years ago is not that long

Don't know if you know this Many don't.

"Army Be all you Could Be" was about a Colenel who thought  people could predict the future -

I prefer calling someone such as that a Cornel (such as in corn) Sorry for the negativity - mispellings and language.
