Stop Tony Abbot from fanning the fires of climate change.

In NSW, air quality is “hazardous” -- the young and elderly are at severe risk. Australia is burning again, but with Tony Abbott and his coal cronies working to kill the carbon price, our best tool to fix climate change and prevent more deadly fires in the future is on the rocks. It’s up to us to extinguish their plans.

While the PM volunteers to help the emergency services, his relentless assault on the carbon price locks our brave firefighters into a future where fires are more ferocious and frequent. We can’t pull his head out of the sand, but the new ALP team can stall his attack, and right now they’re deciding whether climate is an issue that’s worth fighting for. Together we can show the ALP public opinion is desperate for climate leadership and saving the carbon price is a fire fight worth having.

Let’s raise a giant outcry across the country appealing to the ALP to do everything they can to save the carbon price. A fight for our the future of Australia is underway -- let’s make sure the cooler vision wins! Sign now then forward this campaign -- when we reach 100,000 signers firefighters will deliver our petition to ALP headquarters.

I signed, we lived for a year in NSW and know how dry it can be.  Doesn't Lake George disappear every once in awhile?

Yes!

Signed.

Tony Abbot's election win just goes to show there are as many idiots in AU as there are are in the U.S.

That there are. But then Labor didn't help itself with all the in fighting. They fight amongst themselves then trading words with liberal/national party mob.

Signed as well.

Indeed your analysis is correct. Just read [Yahoo 7 news] how Vancouver has not spent a cent on new roads-high-freeways since the 70s and invested in public transport esp trains-trams. This reduces particle pollution from cars which locally kills thousands/year yet no outcry as vested interests want it this way. DownUnder is way behind the Canadians. Read on LinkedIn [subsite] how Helsinki is following the same route to get rid of planet poisoning cars within a decade. And here in Newcastle? The mall has car traffic moving through it after car drivers kicked up a stink [pun intended] and the gutless city council [with an alleged corrupt mayor] caved in. We have a long way to go. Unless climate change forces us either way to act on this.
