Stephen Hawking makes it clear: There is no God

If I were a scientist, I'd stick to the Goldman Sachs principle: bet on both sides.

"Believe in science, believe in God" seems to cover all the possibilities and gives you the best chance for a cheery afterlife.

For a time, it was thought that astrophysicist Stephen Hawking had also left a tiny gap in his credo window for a magical deity. However, he has now come out and declared that there is no God.

He gave an interview to Spain's El Mundo in which he expressed his firm belief that el mundo was the work of scientifically explainable phenomena, not of a supreme being.

Hawking said: "Before we understand science, it is natural to believe that God created the universe. But now science offers a more convincing explanation."

The sad thing about Stephen Hawking is he felt he needed to applogige to the Catholic Church for exploring the origin of the universes.

His kissing the ring of the pope cause me to loose respect for Hawking.

Chris you are going to have to show me this ring kissing incident, because that doesn't sound likely.

And even him apologising  to the catholic church doesn't sound like him.

It would take a hell of a lot for me to lose respect for Professor Hawking's, both for his work and his life.

Perhaps you'll have to truest me on this. I don't want to take the time to dig through videos and documentaries to present it.

This might be the closest I can get for now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwapBahAGxg

Some of these intereactions are presonal and not broadcast.

I think Hawking is doing work in throritical phycics that's important, but some how he has a tie with the Catholic Church that I don't uderstand.  So be it.

Remember Chris he's tied to that chair and he cant move. But I've heard him say many times he doesn't believe in God, but in he's books and papers he sometimes uses God as a metaphor. I wouldn't take them to seriously

Same with others who use the term "God" as a a metaphore.  I occationally do that.

Perhaps Hawkings interaction with the Catholic church was a good move toward peace and recilication betwen religion and science.

God as a metaphore should be the only way it's meant.

Unfortunately some, if not many think Jesus, or Muhammid is the only real prophit whom they are willing to kill for rather than to view it a poetry.

I suppose I was fortunate that my parents raised me to view all of these ancient tests as poetry. The Illiad Oddesy to me mean nothing different than biblical texts - rather than absolute truths.

It's a shame, if not criminsal that other's read bronze age texts and see them as the ultimate truth.

Couldn't agree with you more Chris. To see these texts in any other way than literature is inane in the extreme.

Hilarious, Pope shouldn't be scracthing his prvates.  If he does he should clean his fingernails afterwards.

Maybe after he get's his toe nails done.
