Should Governments regulate fraudulent religions?

Should Governments regulate fraudulent religions?

https://www.google.ca/search?source=hp&ei=wRyUWquFHcm4tQXV74XQB...

Fraud is a broad term that refers to a variety of offenses involving dishonesty or "fraudulent acts". In essence, fraud is the intentional deception of a person or entity by another made for monetary or personal gain. Fraud offenses always include some sort of false statement, misrepresentation, or deceitful conduct.

Most governments and countries have fraud laws of some kinds. They generally interfere with religious fraudsters only when physical harm is being done to our gullible citizens yet ignore the monetary theft that the fraudsters fleece from their victims. Prosperity ministries are the most flagrant of these immoral religions, but all religions based on demonstrable lies would be included in this question.

Our governments are quite good at acting against obvious fraudsters yet seem reluctant to protect our more gullible citizens when it comes down to religions.

Religions, to me, get a free pass to lie and steal all they can from victims, especially the older citizens even when governments know about the fraud.

I begin to see the inaction of governments on these religious fraudsters as a dereliction of duty.

Do you?

Hi Chris, Dennis.

Chris. I never give up on the lost.

Dennis. U C our governments for what they are. Garbage.

Not surprising given that our oligarch owners have had generations of in breeding and  mental stagnation.

I think it is dependent strictly on the individual.  Some people are willing to open their minds.  Others live in fear of doing so.  I think we all live with emotional scars of our early indoctrination.  I know I certainly do.

It is a constant practice to focus on the objective, and ignore the subjective.  So many of the ideologies we grew up with are human constructs we were taught to except on faith with out question.  That does not just apply just to religion, but all forms governance as well.   Any governance that operates on subjective human constructs is doomed to fail as they all have.   Governance must function with in the objective, and the laws of physics other wise you end up with what we have seen in the past, and have now.   Only problem I see is that human civilization will never quite get to that point in its' evolution.   Humanities clinging to the subjective human constructs has led us down a path of self destruction with over population, and abrupt climate change.   I think we have failed as a species to reach our potential.

Theologians have relied on a fundamental illusion of Man: the illusion of not being dead once we already are. In Hodder's The Domestication of Europe, one can go back to around 9,000 B.C. to find evidence of a theological elite that were likely already practicing this deception, as well as the practice of placing houses in rows (striated space) reminiscent of State space.

Mike,

Thanks for the information about Ian Hodder.

Thanks all.

Popular media has given you the wrong impression of just how well we are doing.

Strangely, much better and the suicide rate would be even worse. It seems that the curse to us doing so well is that children get bored. Just lately, the boy rate jumped by 30% while the girl rate jumped up by 70%.

This link has stats at the end that show just how good things are.

If I may sir  D L,

My mother, after telling her I am an atheist said to me that "Everyone believes in 'God.'

I presented and she read Dawkins book "The God Delusion."  Interestingly after reading that she told me "I think I'm an atheist."  The neat thing about it is she was going through 'hospice' care and perhaps the book helped her to overcome her fear of death, hell, and 'eternal damnation.'

Thanks for the link.

My pleasure and thanks for the neat anecdotal story.

I had a software program called Eponism. It showed how terrible the suicide rate for kids even as young as six years old was.

More Kids Are Attempting and Thinking About Suicide, According to a...

The number of kids hospitalized for thinking about or attempting suicide doubled in less than a decade, according to a study published Wednesday in Pediatrics.

In 2008, 0.66% of all U.S. children’s hospital visits were due to either suicide attempts or suicidal thoughts, also known as suicide ideation. By 2015, according to the study, that number had jumped to 1.82%, with rates rising across age groups and demographics.

The largest increases were seen among adolescents between two age groups — 15 and 17, and 12 and 14 — according to the study. Increases were also higher among girls than boys, the study says. Interestingly, the researchers also observed significantly more suicide attempts or ideations during the school year; that’s in contrast to adults, among whom suicide rates tend to spike in spring and summer.

To reach these findings, researchers used billing data from the Pediatric Health Information System database, which tracks youth emergency room and inpatient hospital visits. The database showed that more than 115,800 suicide attempts or ideations occurred during the seven-year study period.

Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has shown that the number of teenagers dying by suicide is also on the rise.

Why youth suicide rates are creeping up is harder to suss out. It may have something to do with climbing rates of depression and loneliness among young people, or that pediatricians are increasingly referring children with mental health issues to specialists or hospitals. The prevalence of social media may also play a part, Dr. Gregory Plemmons, an associate professor of clinical pediatrics at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and the new study’s first author, told NBC News.

"depression and loneliness among "

We adults are responsible for their depressor and loneliness.

Yes, glad to point to Hodder's work. He shows how esoterica became established via burial rites and architecture, which reinforced the fundamental illusions of man. What's interesting at this end is that Pence is apparently swearing in new Congressional people using the Qur'an. This is church-and-state building at its finest, because the journal Islamochristiana was begun by the Catholics in 1975, and Pence's family DNA is buried along with George Washington's family DNA in a cemetery in Ohio.

I don't understand why people sworn in to office don't use the constitution.

When I was sworn it there was no hoopla. It was basically a signature statement as it should be.

The Chinese are lying. This Chinese colonization is ethnic cleansing masked as anti-extremism, which conveniently targets a religion. But most are not aware that the Uighurs were already inhabiting the same valley that the Han Chinese claim to be their original homeland, though these were (pre-Islamic Uighurs [italics]).
