I am an Atheist. Everyone knows it, I don't proselytize
it. Rest assured, if someone gets in my face about their beliefs, I will defend myself to the same degree of their stupidity. Doesnt happen often, I focus my life more on my family and all the fun we have (as well as the frustating times too, but one needs bad to appreciate good)
Sooo, if I post on this beautiful site, it will most likely NOT be atheist related... probably, more than likely it will be food related. I am sure that when bees gather after a long days work, they dont talk about honey. Well, I am amongst a group of like thinkers, and I don't wanna talk shop... <grin>...
(Profound statement) Food is life. duh, right? Have you ever done the Master Cleanser? I have. Two times a year for the last three years and probably until I die, it is my form of...er...sabbatical to my body. The last one I did lasted for 33 days.
Until one stops eating and lives amonst eaters, one does not realize how profound a statement it is. While on the Cleanse, I sit amongs acquaintances at meals and they dont even realize that I am not partaking in this sacred act of eating. Leaving a restaurant, the guy sitting next to me commented, "how did you like the food"... I just said, "oh, it was great"... lol...
My boys hate when I cleanse. They want me to eat at the table with them, and enjoy the wonderful meals I make daily. Theres also some crazy synaps that clicks in my body that when cleansing, I create the most fascinating dishes... It got to where I write down what I created so when I off I can make it again... oh, the torture! hahaha...
Oh, I will read and enjoy all the stuff put here on our mindset; and probably get a lot of insight, and thank you, dear poster, for the enlightment...
Well.... back to the kitchen! lol... I'll post some pics of my latest master pieces! I am thinking Pate a Choux (fancy talk for cream puffs) lol...

I had to look-up Master Cleanser.
For 33 days? Wow that's a tad radical isn't it? No doubt it must have all sorts of effects on your metabolism.
In any case it must be quite the lesson in self-control - eating is so central to living, culturally, socially and physiologically. You should have interesting tales on the tricks your mind plays with you on Master Cleanse =)

Permalink Reply by Adriana on May 24, 2012 at 7:13am I had to look it up too. Wow! If I carried out that cleanse, I'd end up in the hospital. I spend way too many calories during my normal work days and my exercise intensive weekends, to make it on that diet. I have "fasted" for brief periods before, when I was young and convinced that I was "fat" (I was not anywhere near fat or even plump, but sometimes teenage girls have a very distorted image of themselves).
My younger told me that the MC is a bit of a fad with college age girls, when they want to quickly drop some weight (and water weight) for a party, graduation, vacation by the sea, etc.

Permalink Reply by Adriana on May 24, 2012 at 7:17am We have a vegan/vegetarian group where we post recipes and other things but if you like, you can create your own food group for recipes or any other kind of food-related discussions! Check out all our groups, BTW. We discuss about a lot of things that are not directly-related to atheism.
