calling for violence against atheists

If someone murdered a Muslim or Christian for being of that faith it's a hate crime, but it is not if someone is murdered for not believing in god. Well god bless America, huh.

It is very sad when religion is used as an excuse for horrible behavior by the insane, though you can argue that even following any religion is misguided.

It apears to me it's kind of like the Klu Klux Clan kind of insane behavior; kill people "righteously" because they are different;  a hate crime.

It is horrible to see this happening in America, a modern country!

if you ever have the opportunity go to Belfast, I visited family there and almost received a punishment beating for going to a Catholic restaurant.

Yep, they cannot forget the orange and the green, can they!

A country that enshrines stupidity can't last forever.

Black cats must be eradicated from the face of this Earth!

Yes!

It looks like the Iowa murder was released from jail on Oct 19, 2011 - 17 months after the crime.

on calling for violence against atheists Nothing of Fox surprises me. It's a tragedy that viewers of that shit get to vote.

According to the 2010 FBI hate crime statistics:

Religious bias

Hate crimes motivated by religious bias accounted for 1,409 offenses reported by law enforcement.  A breakdown of the bias motivation of religious-bias offenses showed:

  • 65.4 percent were anti-Jewish.
  • 13.2 percent were anti-Islamic.
  • 9.5 percent were anti-other religion, i.e., those not specified.
  • 4.3 percent were anti-Catholic.
  • 3.8 percent were anti-multiple religions, group.
  • 3.3 percent were anti-Protestant.
  • 0.5 percent were anti-Atheism/Agnosticism/etc. (7 victims total) (Based on Table 1.)

It would be interesting to see what "other religion" consists of.

Religion to me is any philosophy taken to an extreme degree, It doesn't matter the subject, it can turn ugly in the wrong hands. It doesn't help matters when at the very heart of it, the philosophy is dark to begin with.

I find myself leaning into Jacobinism when I hear this crap.

same here !
