A society’s health care plans, if they are to succeed, have to cost no more than its taxpayers are willing to pay.
1. How much should be spent on newborns who have poor genetic health?

Twenty years ago, when I was 68, a medical doctor told me I have ‘designer genes’, a clever pun. Only once has an MD put a knife into my body, to take out an ingrown hair.
Yet I have never been and am not now wealthy. I live in a taxpayer-supported home for war veterans.
