welcome jim

Haha, I am a newb and learning the site, still. I thought that my last forum post was being posted here for some reason.

I have studied religion and philosophy for 15 years trying to find out where it fit in my world only to realize it doesn't. There's too much structure, too much guilt, too much shame and not enough acceptance in "religion."

I have a slightly pantheistic view of the world. I see nature as a miracle, divine. Consciously so? I have no clue. I tend to think that consciousness is a product of evolution, which I see as the most plausible explanation of creation. Sometimes my epic pattern-recognition skills put me on a spiritual kick where I just feel connected to the world through some massive presence and higher purpose. I've stopped feeling like that was some form of deity only recently, though my view of god has never matched any specific faith.

I'm an online student, married with two preschoolers. I create. Writing, crafts, painting, cartoons, fashion, decoration, design, - I dabble in it all. My biggest passions are writing and science.

I started a group on here. If the idea of secular ministries for community outreach interests you, please join us. (=

Welcome Jenna.
I'm also into creativity and making stuff and I'm looking forward to see your 'dabblings'.

Thank you, Michel. (= My husband erected an art studio for me over the holidays and I have begun painting again. Once I get pictures taken I will post them. My blog and picture editing on blogger and facebook are my big online projects.. (=

Thank you, Keely. (= So far, I love it. I've been bugging my fellow non-theistic friends to join.

Hi Jenna,

Welcome to au! I like your idea of secular ministries. We really do need to preserve what little good has evolved from religious traditions, and to help the overwhelming bad parts to go extinct, and I think some form of secular charity probably needs to go head-to-head with the religious charities and win the hearts and minds of the good people of the earth.

I too am interested in art in all forms, and like to dabble when I can.

Bill,
Thank you and thank you. I think many are right about being open and honest about the desire for a more secular government and society. The way I see it: showing that there is truly good intention involved in living in a world free of theistic bias is the best way to soothe this tension that honesty is creating.
Nice to meet you. (=

Welcome Mrs Jenna Henry. Hope you enjoy the site.

I view nature the way you do slightly, a miracle to be sure, because we all live in some beautiful place on a beautiful mud ball circling an average star on the outskirts of an amazingly beautiful but average galaxy in the Universe.

Unlike you though I sense the presence of not some much as being greater then me but being part of the presence yet separated from it. I a wordsmith canna no' find words to express what I sense!

Welcome, Kir, looking forward to your participation.

Good to meet you, Kir. Deconversion as a devotion is in interesting concept. It is wonderful to see someone so passionate about the truth and what is right. The world needs that. (=

Hi Kir, I remember you from before. Welcome back!

heh welcome kir
